The Present Status and Sustainable Development of Turbot (Scophthalmus maximus L.) Culture in China

Lei Jilin,Ma Aijun,Chen Chao,Zhuang Zhimeng

Strategic Study of CAE 2005, Volume 7, Issue 5,   Pages 30-34

Abstract: After several-year practice, the primary intensive culture model has formed in the northern part of ChinaAs a result, China has become one of the largest countries in turbot culture and consumption in the worldTurbot culture industry has not only made great contribution to the development of marine culture industryParticularly, the accession of China to WTO brought new development opportunity for turbot culture. Those new ideas and objectives are driving the turbot culture industry into an updated stage, on which

Present status and progress of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for esophageal cancer

Jing Liu, Jinbo Yue, Ligang Xing, Jinming Yu

Frontiers of Medicine 2013, Volume 7, Issue 2,   Pages 172-179 doi: 10.1007/s11684-013-0268-0

Abstract:

Trimodality based on neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) followed by surgery is gaining popularity as a treatment strategy for locally advanced esophageal cancer. In this review, we summarize the role of nCRT and the recommended nCRT regimens based on clinical trials and meta-analyses. We analyze the relationship of nCRT with pathologic complete response (pCR) and then identify potential predictive markers of response. Compared with surgery alone and neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgery, trimodality provides longer survival and has the advantage of local control compared with definitive chemoradiotherapy. The standard regimen is a platinum-based regimen with a radiation dose range of 41.4–50.4βGy by conventional fractionation. Evidence shows that patients with pCR tend to live longer than non-responders, indicating that pCR is a significant prognostic factor for patients with esophageal cancer. Individualized medicine requires predictive markers of individual patients based on their own genes. Currently, no definite marker is proved to be sufficiently sensitive and specific for use in clinical practice, although 18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography shows promise in predicting response to nCRT.

The past, present and future of bovine pluripotent stem cells: a brief overview

Xiuchun TIAN

Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering 2019, Volume 6, Issue 1,   Pages 3-7 doi: 10.15302/J-FASE-2018247

Abstract:

Although the pursuit of bovine embryonic stem cells started more than 26 years ago for the purpose of gene-targeting, true pluripotent stem cells in this economically important species are still elusive. With the rapid advances in genome-editing and cloning using homologously recombined somatic cells, the need for pluripotent stem cells for precise genetic modification in any species became questionable. With the pig being the better model for human regenerative biology, the identification of the commonalities and uniqueness of the pluripotency circuitry across mammalian species may be the main objective for studying pluripotent stem cells in the bovine.

Strategic Study of CAE 2009, Volume 11, Issue 3,   Pages 92-96

Abstract:

To keep up with the time, culture is integrated to large-scale constructionEngineering culture is an integration of project construction and engineering culture. However, engineering culture development enjoys its own particularity as a project is constructed onceThis paper gives affirmative opinion that engineering culture development in large-scale projects backsand systematic thinking pattern for engineering culture development in future large-scale projects.

Basic research on machinery fault diagnostics: Past, present, and future trends

Xuefeng CHEN, Shibin WANG, Baijie QIAO, Qiang CHEN

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2018, Volume 13, Issue 2,   Pages 264-291 doi: 10.1007/s11465-018-0472-3

Abstract:

Machinery fault diagnosis has progressed over the past decades with the evolution of machineries in terms of complexity and scale. High-value machineries require condition monitoring and fault diagnosis to guarantee their designed functions and performance throughout their lifetime. Research on machinery Fault diagnostics has grown rapidly in recent years. This paper attempts to summarize and review the recent R&D trends in the basic research field of machinery fault diagnosis in terms of four main aspects: Fault mechanism, sensor technique and signal acquisition, signal processing, and intelligent diagnostics. The review discusses the special contributions of Chinese scholars to machinery fault diagnostics. On the basis of the review of basic theory of machinery fault diagnosis and its practical applications in engineering, the paper concludes with a brief discussion on the future trends and challenges in machinery fault diagnosis.
